Harmonic makes commitment to equality and diversity by signing RIA EDI charter
As a measure of our commitment to the rail industry and diversity, Harmonic is proud to have signed up to the Railways Industry Association’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Charter.
The EDI Charter is a new industry initiative jointly led by Women in Rail (WR) and the RIA. It reflects the determination of the UK railway sector to work together to build a more balanced, fair and high-performing industry and to champion equality, diversity and inclusion.
Signature of the Charter holds participating companies accountable to their commitment to implement an action plan and monitor their progress by reporting back to the RIA annually, provide training to help tackle unconscious bias, and make recruitment and progression accessible and attractive to all.
Head of Resourcing Caroline Robertson will take on the role of EDI Champion within Harmonic. She said, “Signing the Charter is an indication of Harmonic’s commitment to actively encourage diversity. It’s a fantastic initiative by Women in Rail and the RIA, and as we have a strong presence in rail, we were only too happy to sign up.
“But lack of diversity isn’t just an issue in the rail industry – it affects many of the sectors in which we at Harmonic work, such as defence, infrastructure and financial services. We are passionate about increasing diversity in all our industries.
“As such, our signing of this Charter signifies Harmonic’s acknowledgement that there’s a lot more we can do, and our commitment to implement meaningful action to improve equality, diversity and inclusion across all our teams.”
